Portrait Workshop
It is now the time to take your drawing to a new level! Since you are either a former student in one of my workshops or have expressed an interest in taking a Realistic Portrait Drawing workshop, I wanted you to be the first to sign up for my newest workshop scheduled for June 27 to July 1st 2011 in Tyler, Texas (Rose Capital of the World).
The workshop will be limited to 10-12 students, so the level of individual instruction will be very high. If you’ve never attempted this type of drawing before or are interested in furthering your skill level, this workshop is for you! Below is an example of the type of portrait you will be able to draw by the end of the 5 days. We will be combining 98% graphite and a small amount of colored pencil work.
All supplies will be provided as part of your tuition (4 mechanical pencils with various types of lead, charcoal pencils, 5 types of erasers, blending stumps, paper, Exacto knife, etc.). The cost of the five day workshop is $275.00 plus $25 supply fee (optional). We will provide the colored pencils to use.
The workshop will be held at the Tyler Junior College West Campus, but is not associated with the college. Please visit my bio page to learn more about the artist, the students and the workshops.
If you are interested in attending this workshop, you may register by check, paypal, money order, or credit card.
Please email me (see contact page) with any questions you might have or call Linda Davidson at (903) 566-4420. She will be available to answer any questions you might have concerning the workshop and its logistics. This workshop is filling up fast so let us know if you are interested.

letters.....
"Hey, Maureen … just wanted to thank you for the two wonderful series of drawing classes at TJC. You are such an accomplished artist and I feel so lucky to have been able to glean just a little of your knowledge and talent in my own drawings. When I walked into that first class and saw your drawings displayed, I thought, “oh, crap … this isn’t a beginner’s class… this is way above and beyond my abilities .. I’ve never even done ONE portrait, much less one that detailed and perfect!”. However, with your expert teaching style, I have had my artist interest re-kindled. And for that … I thank you!"
Linda
"Maureen, I have learned so much and had a great time in the process. I think you're a terrific teacher...very knowledgeable and willingness to share your talents with us. What I like so much is that you're not intimidating and you're fun !!! Thank you so much. Drawing is the first thing I've found in years that I enjoy."

Hi Maureen,
It has been a pleasure to have you give the workshop here in Athens. I am looking forward to the next couple of days. I can't tell you how much I have learned and how excited I am about all the information you have given to us. I came home and drew a lady out of a magazine and now I am working on it. The information you have given, has made all the difference in the world in the quality of my work already!!! I feel like a little kid that wants to jump up and down with excitement.
Looking forward to the next bout of information.

Mrs. Killaby, we are so grateful that you decided to teach the classes at the M.L.O.T.A.. Calli has learned so much from you. We are SUPER proud of her latest drawing. It's BEAUTIFUL! I took some photos of it tonight and have attached some to this email.
Again, thank you!

Hi Maureen,
This is a testament to what a good teacher you are. I'd never have been able to accomplish this without your instructions. Can't wait for the next session. Everyone else is really excited about it too. Already have five signed up.
student's work after 4 day workshop:
Maureen,
Maureen:
Some question why I'd drive over 700 miles into the Texas heat to attend your workshop. My reply seems rather empty, until I returned with the portraits from the workshops I've attended. Then, I don't need to say anything else. I show them the portrait. People are usually speechless for a minute or more while they study the portrait and think "how did he do that?"
So, I want to be certain you know how grateful I am to have found you. Being a novice to this drawing-thing, I'm still hesitant to call myself an artist. But the style and content of your teaching; your willingness to help me attack a drawing with controlled passion .. fearless from making it too dark; your constant observation in the workshop to stop and correct me before going too far down the wrong path, all these are qualities that give me confidence and help me raise my artistic accomplishment to the next level.
I want you to know this and understand why I want to come back to each workshop you offer. I don't believe there is another instructor in the south who has the skill to pull these artistic qualities out of me.
Thank you.
Bill
